By Carol Look, EFT Master
Cary attended the Level 1 & 2 EFT
classes I taught in South Carolina at a week long
conference. Later in the week, I ran into her in the hotel
lobby. She said, "My hip pain is gone, completely gone..."
Here is her story:
Cary had suffered from hip pain for about 15 years. At
its worst, it was a "10" on the 0-10 intensity scale,
especially when the weather was cold or wet. Her hip pain
never registered below a 5.5 during the 15 years. When I
asked her how her pain felt, she said "it was
like putting a knife into the hip joint and twisting
it..." She has consulted chiropractors,
acupuncturists, engaged in Healing Touch work, Reike work,
deep tissue massage, myofacial release, and sleeps on
magnets. At the most, she had a couple of hours of relief
at any one time from one of these techniques. She said the
expenses for her treatment were all out of pocket, and
probably added up well into thousands and thousands of
dollars.
When I asked her what she thought triggered the pain
relief, she said it was that, during the EFT class,
she identified the emotional cause of the
problem (15 years ago). Tapping for the
complex feelings around that time in her life allowed the
pain to release.
What happened 15 years ago? Her husband was laid off,
and theyboth became extremely anxious about
money. They also felt very isolated from
each other and were in their "own little worlds" about the
stress. Cary's first "AHA!" came when I asked the class,
"What was happening during the time in your
life when the pain showed up?" She had
always looked at her hip problem as a purely physical
issue until the EFT class. This helped
her make the connection between an emotional issue and the
pain.
During the second day of Level 2, I
taught a section on Attracting Abundance with
EFT. Cary got in touch with how frightened
she and her husband had been and always were about money
issues. She had noticed that her pain got worse this Fall
when her husband was laid off again, but never considered
that the stress was making her hip hurt so much. When I
asked her what phrases or tapping suggestions most
resonated with her, she said the abundance issues
surrounding "lack" and "not enough" really hit home with
her and helped her connect the insecurity about money with
her husband's layoff and her painful hip.
"Even though I am convinced there will never be
enough for me..."
"Even though I'm afraid there's never going to be
enough..."
"Even though I am sure there is lack in my life..."
"Even though I don't feel supported...there's not
enough..."
Please note, Cary was never a demonstration subject on
stage throughout the 3 days. In her words, "Oh
no, I am not a "stage" person." While we
tapped and tapped as a group for 3 days, I never asked
Cary specific questions, interviewed her, or even knew she
was suffering in this way.She "borrowed
benefits" the entire time.
Cary said, "My acupuncturist is not going to believe
this!" She has been pain free for 10 days for the first
time in 15 years as a result of identifying the emotional
contributors to the ailment.
One final note: I sent the article to "Cary" for
approval, and she said "The freedom from hip pain
continues. I am certain at this time it won't reoccur."
